Grade and Insert Geometries for Machining Aluminum
September 20, 2004
HOUSTON - A new insert grade and two new chip-control geometries
are the latest improvements from American National Carbide (ANC)
for the non-ferrous materials ISO N area.
The new grade is AN6115,
which has a PVD coating of titanium nitride over a fine-grained,
hard substrate. AN6115 is ANC's preferred grade for machining aluminum
and can also be used for other non-ferrous materials and high-temperature
alloys.
AN6115 is available in the new HP and AR chip-control geometries,
which are designed specifically for aluminum and non-ferrous machining.
Both geometries are tailored for single-sided precision ground inserts
and feature high-positive chip-control design.
