HOUSTON - American National Carbide (ANC), long-time manufacturer
of tungsten carbide products for metalworking, mining and drilling,
and wood processing, introduces a carbide scrap recycling program
designed to provide an environment-friendly and cost-effective method
of disposing hard and soft tungsten carbide scrap.
The recycling program has two aspects: (1) carbide manufacturers
can have carbide scrap processed and returned to them as a usable
raw material, and (2) carbide users can "redeem" their
scrap for credit or cash. "This new program gives our customers
a way of minimizing the effect of the current volatility in the
tungsten market," says D. Greg Stroud, President. "The
net result is that they get raw material or finished products for
a lower price, because they are obtaining value from their scrap."
ANC is one of the few carbide manufacturers in the world that also
has a comprehensive zinc reclamation process allowing it to convert
tungsten carbide scrap into usable raw material. ANC buys a wide
variety of "hard scrap," including carbide inserts, drilling
compacts and buttons, carbide end mills and drills, wear parts,
saw tips, coal mining tips, road construction tips, nozzles, grit,
blanks, ball mill and attritor mill media, and other solid carbide
scrap. It also purchases "soft scrap," such as grinding
sludge (wet or dry), turnings, and grindings, presintered and unsintered
carbide parts, grade powder, and powder scrap.
